Generation Features Avery's Car Wrap - Analyst Blog

Avery Dennison Corporation (AVY) has announced that University of Michigan's 2013 solar car featured an Avery Dennison vehicle wrap film. The solar car known as Generation was introduced to public on June 18, 2013.

Generation is redesigned by the students of Michigan University for World Solar Challenge that takes place every two years. World Solar Challenge is a solar-powered car race which covers 3021 km through the Australian Outback. Generation will compete in the 2013 World Solar Challenge from Oct 6 to Oct 13 2013, under the challenger class team.

Avery Dennison MPI 1005 Supercast Easy Apply film was digitally printed and protected with DOL 1360 Gloss overlaminate. TKO Graphix has installed Avery's vehicle wrap film for Generation.

The Vinyl wrap, which is of more than 700 square feet, covers the aerodynamic body of the solar car. The vehicle wrap also allocates all sponsor logos,  providing Generation the full protection required to win the race.

The digitally printed film is valuable for the solar car as it is durable, repositionable and slideable. Avery's high quality films permit faster positioning and air-bubble free film application as well as long-term removability. Additionally, the Vinyl wrap film has transformed the car, maintaining the shape designed by the Solar Car Team of Michigan University along with its diversified colors.

The demand for car wrap is growing as it can be easily removed without damaging the original paint of the vehicle. It is also more affordable than a custom paint job and easier to maintain. Currently, the use of these Vinyl wraps are not only limited to solar cars but can also be installed on most vehicles and boats, ATVs, motorcycles and RVs; this is because the car wraps can be installed quicker than a custom paint job and are more affordable than paint.

Avery, which is among the leading office supply companies along with CompX International Inc. (CIX), ACCO Brands Corporation (ACCO) and A.T. Cross Company (ATX), recently announced a partnership with West Coast Customs (WCC). Under the collaboration, Avery's vehicle wrap films will be displayed in each project of WCC's new TV show.

Pasadena, Calif.-based Avery manufactures pressure-sensitive materials, and tickets, tags, labels other converted products. Avery has over 200 manufacturing and distribution facilities encompassing more than 60 countries.

Avery currently retains a short-term Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
