Avery Dennison Corporation (AVY) has expanded its Prime Film Portfolio of biaxially-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films with the addition of four new facestocks. The new BOPP films with a Bleached Glassine (BG) liner are available in white, clear and metalized options.
Avery's Prime Film Portfolio is an engineered line of films specially created for the specific marketing and containers requirements of food, beverage and home and personal care segments. All of the products are constructed with the company's S7000 adhesive, which reportedly delivers excellent clarity, conformability and productivity for high-speed converting. Additionally, the adhesive delivers 50% less ooze than competitive products, reducing adhesive contamination and clean up.
The Prime Film Portfolio films offer excellent converting and dispensing performance to food firms and their packaging partners. These films feature a range of properties that remove darts and wrinkles in high-speed dispensing environments and challenging packaging formats.
The new BOPP film constructions, which have a unique combination of properties such as better shrinkage, stiffness, transparency, sealability, twist retention and barrier, are suitable for rigid containers. It also delivers greater shelf and brand appeal.
Avery, which belongs to the office supply, labeling and packaging industry along with CompX International Inc. (CIX), A.T. Cross Company (ATX) and United Stationers Inc. (USTR), recorded total revenues of $1.1 billion in its Pressure-sensitive Materials segment in first-quarter 2013. Revenues were up 3% year over year driven by a low single-digit sales increase in Label and Packaging Materials, while sales for Graphics, Reflective and Performance Tapes increased slightly.
Avery continues to deliver healthy organic growth in both the core segments Pressure-Sensitive Materials and Retail Branding, and Information Solutions. With the divestiture of the underperforming Office and Consumer Products unit, the company will be able to focus on these core segments and improve its growth profile.
Pasadena, Calif.-based Avery manufactures pressure-sensitive materials, tickets, tags, labels and other converted products. Avery has over 200 manufacturing and distribution facilities across more than 60 countries.
Avery currently retains a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
