Washington, July 25 (Jiji Press)--Japan is not yet ready for bilateral trade talks with the United States, U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said Tuesday. "Japan hasn't yet said that they are prepared to negotiate a bilateral trade agreement," Ross said in a panel discussion in Washington. During his visit to Japan in April, he expressed eagerness to start trade talks with Japan at an early date. In Tuesday's event, Ross said Washington will try to build some features of the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal into bilateral trade agreements it aims to conclude. There are "some very good features" in the TPP, he said. In January, U.S. President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the free trade agreement with Japan and 10 other countries.Copyright JIJI PRESS LTD.
