According to a report by Asia Nikkei Review, a major supplier to Apple Inc. AAPL issued a concerning remark that shareholders should listen to.

The remarks came from Advanced Semiconductor Engineer's chief operating officer, Tien Wu. He was also quoted as saying that other major smartphone manufacturers are becoming "more aggressive" in booking chips this year.

"I don't think anybody is overly aggressive this year, so I don't think there would be any serious inventory correction issue similar to last year," the executive also said.

Despite the report, shares of Apple were trading higher by more than 1 percent ahead of Tuesday's market open.
