4 Things Investors Missed At Apple's WWDC 2015

Apple Inc.'sAAPL
Worldwide Developers Conference might have provided more trading ideas than investors realized. "I think what investors need to fully understand is they can't take the quality of the Apple experience for granted," Patrick Moorhead, president and principal analyst at
Moor Insights & Strategy
, told Benzinga. "Given Apple didn't make these massive announcements for new products -- they did do Apple Music, but they didn't come out with, let's say, a new 4K TV, you can realize that this is a cycle where they are optimizing the software experience." This is a cue to investors, who shouldn't be too disappointed that new hardware wasn't unveiled. "[Investors should] look beyond that and realize that this is what it takes to lead in consumer experience," said Moorhead, adding that he pays attention to the following points:

1. Apple Watch Desires

Moorhead said he thinks investors should assess "whether the software improvements in Apple Watch increase consumer desire to buy the watch." "I actually think it does," he said. "I have five Apple Watches that I'm testing with different individuals to gauge their reactions." Their reactions have been positive, but Moorhead said that the improvements Apple talked about were "huge." "They hadn't really given developers access, at this point, to all the sensors -- and they just did," said Moorhead. "Developers literally didn't have access to the microphone, accelerometer, interface [and Digital] Crown. Now they do. [Previously] it was very limited in what they could do with their applications."

2. Apple Watch 2.0

Moorhead also spoke positively about Apple Watch 2.0, which he referred to as "an entirely new operating system" that is "leaner and meaner." "Either it performs faster for the current applications or you can do more with it, with the same features," Moorhead added.

3. iPad Sales Catalysts

Moorhead said that investors also need to look at the "potential impact of Apple adding multitasking and trackpad functionality to the iPad with iOS 9." "The question to ask there is, is there any potential increase in sales that Apple could get with iPads by adding this functionality?" Moorhead questioned. Moorhead said that while he can't conclusively make a call without trying the new features himself, he speculated that users may now spend more of their time with an iPad and less with a PC. "To get this functionality, you have to have a more recent iPad," he continued. "To get all of the features, you [need] an iPad Air 2." This could inspire consumers to upgrade to an iPad Air 2 or the next-generation model, which is expected to be released later this year. Moorhead said that if this happens, there will be less money for consumers to purchase a new PC.

4. iPad XL Confirmation?

Moorhead said he also needs to put some thought into whether or not these new features mean Apple will release a
larger iPad
. That might be something else investors should consider. Disclosure:
