In a report published Monday, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster discussed what investors can expect from Facebook Inc's FB annual F8 developers conference that starts on March 25.

According to Munster, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will likely give company metric updates and announce new products. The analyst added that the focus of the event will likely focus on improvements to its four "focus A" areas including News Feed, Messenger, adtech and Oculus.

Here is a breakdown of each segment:

  • Newsfeed: Potential improvements to the video platform and design changes are expected.
  • Messenger: Facebook will likely make Messenger a "core announcement" as it has already been suggested that the company plans on making Messenger a platform more similar to WeChat. As such, this could enable third party developers to build apps that function within the Messenger platform.
  • adtech: Bloomberg previously reported that Facebook is working on a "Twitter competitor" that could enable mobile publishers to manage their entire ad business on a single Facebook-owned platform and sell inventory through a real-time exchange.
  • Oculus: Facebook could reveal some updates in terms of the next version of Oculus and content. Munster noted that Oculus remains an "important long-term theme" for Facebook.

Shares remain Overweight rated with a price target increased to $92 from a previous $84.
