Oracle ORCL on Monday announced that it will acquire MICROS Systems MCRS for $68 per share.
In response to the announcement, William Blair analyst Bhavan Suri issued comments regarding the deal. Suri says there are no concerns as to whether or not the $68 per share price represents "enough of a premium" for MICROS.
As a basis for this assertion, Suri cited MICROS' 2014 fiscal growth and pointed out that the hardware refresh for Windows XP is a nonrecurring event.
In conjunction with these comments, Suri has reiterated the Market Perform rating for MICROS. Additionally, MICROS has received downgrades to the equivalent of a Neutral from a number of firms including Wedbush, Northcoast Research and RBC Capital.
