Stifel Nicolaus initiated coverage on Healthcare Trust of America (NYSE: HTA) with a Hold rating.

Stifel Nicolaus analyst Daniel Bernstein commented, "We believe HTA has long-term potential to grow off a small asset base and through increased revenue or expense efficiencies from internal management, but we see shares fairly valued for near-term modest earnings and dividend growth. … We see disposition of higher yielding non-core assets and restructure of balance sheet, which would potentially increase interest expense through longer-dated fixed rate issuance, as hindering near-term growth."

Healthcare Trust of America closed at $12.00 on Monday.
