Broker Recommendation
Goldman Sachs has a research note on Atmel Corporation (NASDAQ: ATML), previewing its earnings. It has a Neutral rating, and is raising its price target to $6.50 from $6.00.

In a research report sent to investors, Goldman writes, "We expect Atmel to report results at the high end of guidance for 3Q driven by strength in touchscreen controllers, with a solid outlook for 4Q (excluding the effect of the smartcard divestiture, which closed on September 30). Despite Atmel's strong design win momentum in touchscreen controllers and microcontrollers more broadly, we see valuation as increasingly stretched at these levels and would thus avoid the stock. We raise our estimates and price target on margin accretion from Atmel's smartcard divestiture."

Shares of ATML closed at $8.86 on Friday, a gain of 22 cents.
