In a report focusing on clean technology and renewables, Piper Jaffray said that the module spot price is in the range of $1.90-$2.10/watt and will likely remain stable for the remainder of 2010 and into 1H11 for tier 1 module manufacturers with 5-10% declines for tier 2 suppliers. Polysilicon prices are moving up as well, hitting $100/kg on the spot market. “Checks suggest wafer prices are nearing $1/watt on the spot market,” Piper Jaffray writes. “This supports our view that upstream supply remains tight. We believe the biggest winners will be upstream players Renesola Ltd.
SOL
and LDK Solar Co. Inc.
LDK
given strong wafer pricing, and polysilicon price strength benefits First Solar.” Renesola currently trades for $13.99; LDK trades for $11.41.
