BioCorRx Announces Launch Of New Start Fresh Program Clinic In Atlanta

Addiction rehabilitation company BioCorRx BICX has announced it would open a new Start Fresh Program clinic in Atlanta, Georgia in June in line with its rapid expansion plans this year, the company said on Friday.

BioCorRx medical director Dr. George Fallieras will oversee the operations of the clinic as a distributor. Dr. Fallieras represents the company in most press appearances including one on hit TV show The Doctors.

The company sees tremendous growth opportunities in setting up a new clinic in Atlanta because of the city’s strategic location. Atlanta covers 39 counties and has approximately 6.1 million residents. 

Patients from nearby major cities southeast of the state could benefit from the accessibility of the new Atlanta clinic.  

Data from non-profit group Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) revealed deaths associated with drunk driving has increased by 11 percent in Georgia, costing the state $1.47 billion annually.  

The use of alcohol alone or with drugs accounted for almost one-half of treatment admissions in Atlanta, data from the National Institute on Drug Abuse showed. It also ranks first among drug-related crisis call reasons in Atlanta in 2012, with a total of 21,410 calls in 2012.

Heroine abuse meanwhile accounted for 4.3 percent of treatment admissions, according to the Institute.

Prescription drug abuse indicators revealed oxydone use accounted for 3.0 percent of treatment admissions in 2012. Oxycodone, a type of opioid, was also reported as the most commonly abused prescription drug in Atlanta.

Substance use in the Atlanta-Sandy-Springs-Marietta area accounted for 8.3 percent or 350,000 people aged 12 years and older in the previous year, based on data compiled by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) from 2005 to 2010.

At least 20.9 percent of the same sample also engaged in binge alcohol drinking at least once during the past month, SAMHSA found.

“The Start Fresh brand has gained significant momentum in recent months, and this distribution agreement fits in nicely with our expansion plans across the US. Atlanta is a major US hub making it more convenient for people that want access to our program in that heavily populated region of the country," he added.

This new development will help the company to capitalize on the promise of its Naltrexone-based time-release implant as well as on unmet demands in the treatment of alcohol and opioid dependence.

In March, BioCorRx chief operations officer Brady Granier stated the company has signed two LOIs with two of their existing licensee groups to set up new clinics in an interview with SmallCapVoice where he, along with BioCorRx chief finance officer Lourdes Felix, discussed the company’s recent 10K filings.

"A lot of the changes that took place in 2013 are setting us up to build distribution in 2014", he said in the interview.

BioCorRx have five Start Fresh Program clinics that are currently operating in the US. The company only had one clinic in early 2013.

The planned opening of the new Start Fresh Program clinic came close on the heels of the FDA’s nod for the sales of Palcohol, a powdered form of alcohol.
