Earlier this week, we reported that Sony's PlayStation Network, which allows PS customers to play online and do basically everything on their console, had been experiencing issues and users were having trouble signing in. At the time, Sony gave a timeframe of when the PlayStation Network may be available once again: one (1) to two (2) days.

Here we are, on the third day of the outage and the PlayStation Network is still down. Sony posted an update via its PlayStation Blog, stating that an “external intrusion” has affected the PSN and is the cause for the outage. Because of the security concern, Sony elected to shut down the PSN in order to conduct an investigation into what happened.

Providing quality entertainment services to our customers and partners is our utmost priority. We are doing all we can to resolve this situation quickly, and we once again thank you for your patience. We will continue to update you promptly as we have additional information to share.
