White iPhone 4 sold to Vodafone UK customer

Engadget is reporting that one customer of Vodafone UK has been sold a white iPhone 4, despite the device not being available to the general public yet. To sell the device to the lucky customer, the employee rang up the white iPhone 4 as a black model. Shortly after the sale took place, Vodafone began sending out notifications to retail stores to stop selling the handset “until next week.”

The white iPhone 4 was first announced by Apple in June of last year, and was initially set to be released alongside the black version of the iPhone 4. However, due to manufacturing issues, Apple was forced to delay the release of the white iPhone 4 until “this spring,” and the device has yet to make an appearance in the U.S.
