[UPDATE: GAME CENTER TOO; BACK UP] Wide spread MobileMe outage causing user frustrations

Over the past few hours, users of Apple's MobileMe service have noticed that when attempting to sign into their account, an “Incorrect Apple ID or password” message greets them. According to a thread on Apple Support Community, users from countries around the world are all experiencing issues logging into MobileMe. It appears as though signing in hasn't been possible for around three and a half hours (at time of writing this article). And, with the work day beginning in certain countries, this downtime will surely be costly to some.

When we contacted Apple's MobileMe support about the issue, they responded that MobileMe is currently experiencing a “small issue” with users logging in. There is currently no estimated timeframe of when MobileMe may go back up, nor have any bulletins been posted on the MobileMe support page.

UPDATE: It's come to our attention that Game Center, an app found on iOS, is also giving users a hard time signing in. When attempting to launch Game Center, users get a “Could not connect to Game Center server” message. Seeing this too?

UPDATE 2: It appears as though both services have recovered fully this morning.
