When an 8-year-old wants to get rich, there are plenty of conventional options. Lemonade stand. Chores. Maybe a paper route.
YouTuber, entrepreneur and podcast host Logan Paul had another idea — ask Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates for money.
Paul recalled his bright idea while speaking with billionaire investor Mark Cuban on his "Impaulsive" podcast in 2023, after Cuban discussed people he barely knew asking him for money.

Cuban Had Received His Own Request Letter
Cuban said that after he became a billionaire, a former friend sent him a letter asking for $275,000.
The request wasn’t exactly subtle. Cuban said the man told him that the amount wasn’t a big deal to Cuban anymore and that he would simply pick up a check.
"I haven’t talked to him since," he said.
Paul could relate — sort of.
He recalled being 8 years old and looking through the "Guinness Book of World Records" at school. He said he loved seeing the various records and achievements, but one detail caught his attention. Gates was listed as the world’s richest person, with Paul remembering his fortune as roughly $60 billion.

"I was 8 years old. I thought of the most brilliant idea ever," Paul said.
"I’m going to write this rich man a letter," Paul recalled thinking. "I’m going to ask him for some money so then I could be rich."
So that’s what he did.
Paul said he wrote Gates a letter asking for money.
‘Yeah, But You Were 8’
There was one problem with the plan: Gates never responded.
"I couldn’t believe it," Paul said.

Cuban then pointed out the rather important distinction between Paul’s childhood request and the $275,000 letter he’d just described.
"Yeah, but you were 8," Cuban said. "He was like 50."
Paul obviously didn’t need Gates’ check to build a career. He went on to become a successful YouTuber, entrepreneur and media personality without any reported bailout from Gates.
And while writing a billionaire a letter asking for money didn’t exactly work, there are less creative ways to get a financial plan in place.

So, no, asking Bill Gates for a check probably isn’t the most reliable wealth-building strategy. A financial plan might be a better place to start — and it doesn’t require an 8-year-old’s handwriting.

Building Wealth Across More Than Just the Market
Building a resilient portfolio means thinking beyond a single asset or market trend. Economic cycles shift, sectors rise and fall, and no one investment performs well in every environment. That’s why many investors look to diversify with platforms that provide access to real estate, fixed-income opportunities, precious metals, and even self-directed retirement accounts. By spreading exposure across multiple asset classes, it becomes easier to manage risk, capture steady returns, and create long-term wealth that isn’t tied to the fortunes of just one company or industry.
Arrived
Backed by Jeff Bezos, Arrived Homes makes real estate investing accessible with a low barrier to entry. Investors can buy fractional shares of single-family rentals and vacation homes starting with as little as $100. This allows everyday investors to diversify into real estate, collect rental income, and build long-term wealth without needing to manage properties directly.
Skybound Entertainment
Entertainment franchises can become valuable long-term assets when they successfully expand across multiple platforms. Skybound Entertainment, the company behind The Walking Dead and Invincible, develops original intellectual property that spans comics, television, film, video games, merchandise, and licensing. With more than 250 IPs in its portfolio and a strategy focused on retaining franchise rights while scaling successful stories across media, Skybound offers investors exposure to the growing entertainment and creator economy through a private company rather than traditional public market investments.
Green Coffee Company
Coffee is a daily staple for millions of consumers, but investors rarely get direct exposure to the brands and supply chains behind it. Green Coffee Company offers a way to participate in the growth of the coffee market through its exclusive U.S. and Canadian distribution rights for Colombian brand Juan Valdez. With the brand expanding across major retailers including Target, Walgreens and Kroger, and GCC reporting 26X revenue growth over four years, the company is positioning itself to bring a well-known Colombian coffee brand to more consumers across North America.
American PowerGen

By advancing projects through permitting, fuel supply, and grid interconnection, the company is positioning itself to help meet rising energy needs while offering investors exposure to the infrastructure supporting the next wave of AI and industrial growth.
