During CD Projekt Red's Q1 2023 earning call, CEO and president Adam Kiciński announced that "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" has surpassed 50 million copies sold worldwide, marking a significant milestone for the highly acclaimed game.

"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has achieved 50 million copies sold, placing it among the top 10 best-selling video games based on publicly available data," Kiciński stated, according to Game Spot.

The title released in 2015 has ascended to the ninth spot on the list of best-selling video games in history, surpassing the sales figures of "Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow," the inaugural Pokémon titles that collectively sold 47.5 million units. "The Witcher 3" finds itself below other juggernaut titles like "Skyrim," "Diablo III," "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare," "GTA: San Andreas," and "Borderlands 2."

Notably, it is steadily closing in on "Red Dead Redemption II," currently holding the eighth spot with approximately 53 million copies sold.

The Polish video game developer also shared that the entire Witcher trilogy has achieved a combined total of 75 million units sold. The series commenced in 2007 with the release of the first installment on PC, followed by "The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings," which expanded its availability to PC and Xbox 360 in 2012.

CD Projekt Red has confirmed the development of "The Witcher 4," internally codenamed Polaris. However, fans of the franchise will need to exercise patience, as the highly anticipated title is not expected to be released until at least 2025.
