  • Zion Oil & Gas, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZN) shares surged 21 percent to $5.12.
  • AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:AVEO) shares gained 9.8 percent to $2.67.
  • Spark Energy Inc (NASDAQ:SPKE) shase rose 8.9 percent to $18.95. Guggenheim upgraded Spark Energy from Neutral to Buy.

  • Synchronoss Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNCR) shares gained 4.5 percent to $16.57 after the company reported the review of strategic alternatives. The company said strategic alternatives could include sale or other transaction.
  • The Advisory Board Company (NASDAQ:ABCO) gained 4.4 percent to $56.60 on a Bloomberg report that UnitedHealth Group Inc (NYSE:UNH) and Vista Equity partners are near a deal to buy the company, according to sources. The sources say UNH would acquire ABCO's health-care division, while Vista would acquire the education unit for as much as $1.5 billion.
  • Sparton Corporation (NYSE:SPA) rose 3.4 percent to $23.12 after the company agreed to be acquired by Ultra Electronics Holdings plc for $23.50 per share in cash.
  • Winnebago Industries, Inc. (NYSE:WGO) shares rose 3 percent to $34.90. Stifel Nicolaus initiated coverage on Winnebago with a Buy rating.
