Data on retail sales for June, the Empire State manufacturing index for July and import price index for June will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. Data on business inventories for May will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 14 points to 16,992.00, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures fell 0.10 points to 1,970.90. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index gained 4.25 points to 3,923.50.A Peek Into Global Markets European markets were lower today, with the Spanish Ibex Index dropping 1.20%, STOXX Europe 600 Index declining 0.29%. German DAX 30 index fell 0.62%, French CAC 40 Index declined 0.47% and London's FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.35%. UK's annual rate of inflation surged to 1.9% in June, versus 1.5% in May.In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rose 0.64%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index surged 0.49%, China's Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.18% and India's BSE Sensex jumped 0.89%. India's consumer-price index increased 7.31% y/y in June, while the wholesale price index rose 5.43% y/y.
