Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who tweeted his support for Republicans in the 2022 midterm elections, revealed that he voted for Joe Biden in the last presidential election.

What Happened: The Billionaire, in an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, said he voted for Biden because Donald Trump wasn't the answer, either.

“I didn’t vote for Trump. I actually voted for Biden. I’m not saying I’m a huge fan of Biden, since that would be inaccurate.”

"I would prefer, frankly, that we put just a normal person as president. A normal person with common sense. Whose values are in the middle of the country," Musk added.

The tech mogul also criticized Meta Platforms Inc CEO Mark Zuckerberg‘s $400 million spending on ‘get out the vote’ initiatives, claiming it was a guise for supporting the Democrats.

"Does that sound unbiased?" Musk said.

Musk highlighted the significance of free speech on platforms like Twitter and Facebook, arguing that they had a duty in a functioning democracy.

"Some things are priceless," he said.

"Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy…[and] the speech needs to be as transparent and truthful as possible."

Why It Matters: Musk, in U.S. midterms last year, urged Americans to elect a Republican Congress to counterbalance President Biden’s Democrats.

“Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic,” Musk told his 110 million followers in a tweet.
