Four years ago, Simone Giertz build her own pickup truck out of a Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA), nicknamed Truckla. On the fourth birthday of the “car truck,” Giertz has now come up with the all-new “Chargla.”

What Happened: Giertz “chopped up” her Model 3 and turned it into a truck in 2018. Now, four years later, Simone updated the details of her “Truckla” in a new YouTube video uploaded last week.

“We’re long overdue for a Truckla update! Happy fourth birthday you a cute chunk of vehicular magnificence,” Giertz wrote on her YouTube page.

Besides having a non-functional tailgate, water seeping issues and a bit of ratting owing to the unwelded truck bed, “Truckla is really really good,” Giertz says in the video.

Not only does Giertz fix a few of the issues in the new video but she also manufactured her own automatic charger nicknamed Chargla in collaboration with MongoDB Inc (NASDAQ:MDB) founder Eliot Horowitz‘s newest venture Viam Inc– a platform that lets you program robots using any programming language.

Giertz says her trust in Tesla’s capacity went on a “steady free fall” since 2019 when in a demo of the unbreakable windows of the Cybertruck, the armored glass shattered, leaving CEO Elon Musk to joke there was “room for improvement”.

“So if I want an automatic charger for Truckla, I’ll just have to make my own,” Giertz said.

Viam and Giertz together developed “Chargla,” which drives up to the Tesla and charges it. It has a camera and is trained on several images of Tesla charge ports for the purpose.

The video shows “Chargla” successfully plugging in, charging the vehicle and backing off.

“Its’s doing great. I mean it will charge the car,” Horowitz says in the video. “Under very specific circumstances, it will.”
