Highway Cannabis Company has hired Sean Cooley as director of marketing.

Cooley joined the senior leadership team at Highway in mid-June as part of a launch plan to accelerate product innovation and drive awareness of the brand, slated to launch its flagship cannabis dispensary in Marina del Rey, California, in late August. Cooley will oversee, develop and execute the entire end-to-end consumer journey, inclusive of branding, content strategy and partnerships, with a significant focus on scaling owned and shared media value.

Cooley has spent 19 years in content marketing, and the past 5 in the cannabis industry, holding several senior positions at tech and media companies. Most recently, Cooley headed marketing operations at Grassdoor, where he played a key role in scaling the growth strategy for the best-in-class delivery technology platform. Cooley’s proven track record in the cannabis industry and deep experience in content-led branding will propel Highway Cannabis into its next stage of growth as the brand begins to fill dispensary store shelves.

“Sean’s long history in the industry is invaluable to our team and he brings a clear vision of setting the standard for quality, trust, and innovation in everything we do,” said Chris Colón, CEO and founder of Highway Cannabis Company.  “Sean’s track record of tactical execution and his innate ability to understand and relate to cannabis consumers will be the winning formula for our future growth and success.”

“From Cannabis Cup judging to Museum of Weed curation, my aim working in cannabis has always been to champion consumption, break stigmas, and increase access to the plant,” added Cooley. “As a new brand, we have the chance to set a new high bar in retail with top shelf customer service, product innovation, and event programming.”
