Nexstar Broadcasting Group Inc is a Delaware corporation, founded in 1996. The Company is a television broadcasting and digital media company, engaged in the acquisition, development and operation of television stations and interactive community websites in medium-sized markets in the United States. The Company owned, operated, programmed or provided sales and other services to 99 full power television stations, including those owned by VIEs with which it has local service agreements, in 61 markets in the states of Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin. The stations it owns and operates or provide services to provide free over-the-air programming to its markets' television viewing audiences. This programming includes programs produced by networks with which the stations are affiliated; programs that the stations produce; and first-run and rerun syndicated programs that the stations acquire. Competition in the television industry takes place on levels such as competition for audience, competition for programming and competition for advertising. Television broadcasting is subject to the jurisdiction of the FCC under the Communications Act of 1934, as amended.
