Remember Xiaomi? They're At It Again, This Time In TV

A few weeks ago, Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi launched a wearable action camera that offers similar features as the GoPro Inc GPRO Hero camera, but retails at half the price.

Prior to that, almost a year ago, the company unveiled an Android-powered, 49-inch, 4K smart TV for sale at $645.

In its latest move, the company presented a new Android powered smart TV with a 40-inch, 1080p screen. It retails at just $322 (¥1999).

According to the company, the new TV features Sharp’s SDP X-GEN LED backlit panel, with a contrast ratio of 5000:1. Powering the smart TV is an MStar 6A908 SoC, which is built from four Cortex-A9 CPU cores and a Mali 450 M4 GPU, backed by 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

Google Inc GOOGL GOOG will provide the operating system.

The TV works on a MIUI customized Android OS, based on Android 4.4, although sources say an update to Android 5.0 is already in the works.
