April live cattle is trading at 115.55, up 1.25 cents/lb. June live cattle is trading at 106.12, up 0.17 cents/lbLive cattle futures are trading higher just after the open. Market chatter about cash prices and consumer demand is making the rounds. Tuesday's USDA cattle slaughter was 115,000 head versus 111,000 head a year ago. The total cattle slaughter for the week is now 217,000 head versus 215,000 head a year ago. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) monthly cold storage report is due out Thursday at 3:00 p.m. ET, the monthly cattle of feed report is due out Friday at 3:00 p.m. ET.
