April live cattle is trading at 116.20, up 1.27 cents/lb. June live cattle is trading at 106.17, up 0.80 cents/lbLive cattle futures higher just after the open. Market chatter about weather and cash prices is making the rounds. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) monthly cold storage report is scheduled for release Thursday at 3:00 p.m. ET. The agency's cattle of feed report is due out Friday at 3:00 p.m.ET. Monday's USDA cattle slaughter was 102,000 head versus 104,000 head a year ago. U.S. beef production was up 8.8 percent versus a year ago.
