April lean hogs are trading at 70.75, down 0.02 cents/lb. June lean hogs are trading at 78.90, down 0.12 cents/lb Lean hog futures are trading choppy just after the open. Market chatter about cash prices and the supply of hogs ahead is ongoing. Talk about producer selling just above current levels is showing up. Wednesday's USDA hog slaughter was 433,000 head versus 436,000 head a year ago. The total for the week is now 1,312,000 head versus 1,289,000 a year ago.
