February live cattle is trading at 120.42, down 0.60 cents/lb. April live cattle is trading at 119.22, down 0.65 cents/lb. June live cattle is trading at 108.67, down 0.50 cents/lbThursday's USDA estimated cattle slaughter was 114,000 head ,the total for the week is now 409,000 head. Average dressed steer weights for the week ending January 7th were 905 pounds, up from 900 the previous week and up from 904 pounds a year ago. The 5-year average weekly weight for that week is 880.8 pounds. Beef production was 453.7 million pounds, up 23.1 percent versus a year ago.
