February live cattle is trading at 108.77, down 0.10 cents/lb. April live cattle is trading at 108.85, down 0.20 cents/lb.Live cattle futures are trading steady to lower just after the open. Market chatter about weather for animal movement and consumer demand is making the rounds. Friday's USDA cattle slaughter was 113,000 head and Saturday's was 41,000 head. The total for last week was 616,000 head, up 10.8% versus a year ago. Thursday's USDA cattle slaughter was 116,000 head. The total for the week is 462,000 head versus 430,000 head a year ago.
