Brean Capital’s Eric Tracy believes the 15 percent rally in Deckers Outdoor Corp (NYSE: DECK) over the past month balances the stock’s near-term risk-reward.

Tracy maintained a Buy rating on the company, with a price target of $65.

The Fall Line

On Tuesday, Deckers Outdoor held a preview of its Ugg Fall 2017 line in New York City, “with product featuring an expanding men's offering, elevated women's, and a continued evolution towards more transitional, less weather sensitive product,” the analyst mentioned.

Tracy stated that the takeaways were generally positive, especially in the context of the company’s long-term strategy.

Tracy views the Fall line “as well positioned to capitalize on ongoing strength in men's beyond slippers.”

Critical Time

However, in the near term, the analyst believes that broader promos are worth monitoring over the next few weeks into the holiday season, since this would be a critical sell-through period for the company to deliver on Q3.

“While we believe recent run in shares reflects investor optimism around potential for Holiday 2016 season to come together despite a warmer-than-expected start, but sell-through in coming weeks will remain critical to DECK delivering against raised expectations,” Tracy explained.
