You can legally vote for president more than once in a number of states. The caveat is that only one vote will count.
According to some estimates, up to 40 percent of U.S. voters may opt to vote prior to Election Day. But for voters in certain states, there is still time for second-guessing.
The following states allow or allowed absentee voters and/or early voters at least one do-over.
- Wisconsin: Absentee voters are allowed up to three ballots.
- Minnesota: Absentee and early voters had the option of changing ballots up until one week prior to the election, but the option is now longer available.
- Pennsylvania: Absentee voters are allowed to change their vote if they show up at the polls on Election Day.
- Michigan: Absentee voters may change their ballots if they arrive at the local clerk’s office in person prior to 4 p.m. on the day before Election Day.
- New York, Connecticut, Mississippi: CNN reports that early voters have at least some options when it comes to changing ballots in these three states as well.
Donald Trump is embracing early ballot flexibility.
“Wisconsin is one of several states where you can change your early ballot if you think you’ve made a mistake,” Trump said at a Wisconsin rally this week.
On Monday, a Reuters early voting poll showed that Hillary Clinton had a 15 point lead over Trump among early voters.
