U.S. stock futures traded higher in early pre-market trade, ahead of earnings from General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL). The Federal Housing Finance Agency House Price Index for August and the S&P Corelogic Case-Shiller home price index for August will be released at 9:00 a.m. ET. The Conference Board’s consumer confidence index for October and the Richmond Fed manufacturing index for October will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank President Dennis Lockhart is set to speak in Atlanta at 1:20 p.m. ET.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 33 points to 18,160.00, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index futures gained 1.25 points to 2,145.50. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index rose 5.75 points to 4,907.75.

Oil prices traded higher as Brent crude futures gained 0.29 percent to trade at $51.61 per barrel, while US WTI crude futures also rose 0.46 percent to trade at $50.75 a barrel.

European markets were mostly higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index dropping 0.40 percent, STOXX Europe 600 Index gaining 0.12 percent and German DAX 30 index gaining 0.26 percent. The UK's FTSE index was trading higher by 0.46 percent, while French CAC 40 Index rose 0.03 percent.

In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average rose 0.76 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index declined 0.17 percent, China’s Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.12 percent and India’s BSE Sensex declined 0.31 percent.

Broker Recommendation

Analysts at Guggenheim downgraded Visa Inc (NYSE: V) from Buy to Neutral.

Visa shares fell 0.20 percent to $83.00 in pre-market trading.
