October lean hogs are trading at 55.22, down 0.32 cents /lb. December lean hogs are trading at 49.00, down 0.05 cents/lb. February lean hogs are trading at 53.30, down 0.07 cents/lb. Lean hog futures are trading steady just after the open. Market chatter about large hog supplies and consumer demand is making the rounds. Tuesday's USDA estimated hog slaughter was 439,000 head. The total for the week is now 880,000 head versus 877,000 last week and 851,000 head a year ago.
