Nintendo Co., Ltd (ADR) (OTC: NTDOY)'s Pokémon GO is now available just in time for the Olympic games in Rio, Brazil.

In between catching a few sporting events, Olympic attendees can hunt for Pokémon characters. Just watch out for the human bodies washing ashore, dead jaguars, bags of cocaine with the Olympic logo brand and other oddities. And don't forget to hydrate properly by avoiding tap water from the untreated sewage.

Lest it be forgotten: There is the inconvenient fact that Brazil's government is nearly broke and its most senior leadership faces the prospect of impeachment. Perhaps Nintendo should have inked a deal with the government to help finance the Olympics, rather than teaming with McDonald's Corporation (NYSE: MCD), the restaurants will be featured as PokéStops and PokéGyms across Japan.

Also, be careful for the widespread crime across Brazil, as criminals have lured victims using the Pokémon GO app across the world. It certainly isn't reassuring that the local police force have threatened to go on strike as the Olympic games approached.

Putting all that aside, Pokémon GO officially launched across Central and South America just in time for Friday's opening ceremony.

"We are excited to officially be putting Pokemon Go in the hands of our Latin American fans, visitors, and the Olympic athletes in Rio!" the app exclaimed on its official Facebook page on Wednesday.
