August live cattle is trading at 110.07, down 0.85 cents/lb. October live cattle is trading at 109.10, down 0.75 cents/lb. December live cattle is trading at 110.87, down 0.57 cents/lb. Live cattle futures are trading a little lower just after the open Monday. Market chatter about weather, cash prices and consumer demand is making the rounds. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) monthly cold storage report is due out Friday at 3:00 p.m. ET. The USDA cattle slaughter last week was up 9.6 percent versus a year ago. Beef production was 482.9 million pounds, up 8.3% from last year.
