CNN Money noted that Monday's game peaked with a 13.8 overnight rating, while TNT's "Inside the NBA" also saw its highest rating ever at 4.8. In fact, the game and post-game were the top two rated programs of the night across both cable and broadcast TV.
Golden State will once again play Cleveland in the NBA finals in a series that pits arguably the game's two biggest stars against each other. Last year's finals averaged 19.9 million viewers for ABC and was the most-watched finals since 1998, when Michael Jordan and Bulls defeated the Utah Jazz led by John Stockton and Karl Malone.
It's yet to be seen if Curry and the Warriors can close their historic 73-win season with another championship or if James will secure a championship win wearing a Cavs jersey. What is safer to assume is that the ratings are likely to surpass last year's historic levels.
