According to a report by DigiTimes, Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg. Co. Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE: TSM) has been ramping development of its 7nm process technology.

DigiTimes, citing a China-based report by Economic Daily News, noted Taiwan Semiconductor would detail its roadmap for its 7nm process during an investors meeting on Thursday.

"The Taiwan-based foundry is set to beat Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) and Samsung (SAMSUNG ELECTRONIC KRW5000 (OTC: SSNLF)) Electronics in ramping up production on its 7nm lines," DigiTimes quoted the report as saying.

Taiwan Semiconductor previously said the foundry would commence production of 7nm chips in the first half of 2018, and the 10nm node would be ready for volume production in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Shares of Taiwan Semiconductor were trading higher by around 0.5 percent late Tuesday morning.
