Over the past few weeks, rumors about former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg independently running for President of the United States have been circulating.

Bill Ackman was at the Bloomberg Markets Most Influential Summit in Hong Kong on Tuesday, and talked about this and other subjects.

On Tuesday, Ackman said events on the Democratic side of the political spectrum have created an opening “like there's never been before,” for Bloomberg to run.

People say they like Trump because he's a straight shooter, the investor added. However, Mike Bloomberg is “all the best of Trump without the worst of Trump,” he assured.

“I'd do everything in my power to get this guy elected…I'm sure he's already doing the calculus,” he strongly concluded.

Ackman On Other Issues (Stocks)

Also on Tuesday, Ackman shared a few comments on particular stocks. This is what he said:

  • Valeant Pharmaceuticals Intl Inc (NYSE: VRX) has “competitive advantage,” running “one of the most efficient” operations in the healthcare sector.
  • General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) is “not cheap enough.” Thus, Ackman says it is unlikely for him to start a position in the company.
  • Ackman assures he is not working with Nelson Peltz on E I Du Pont De Nemours And Co (NYSE: DD) – besides their duties as Board Members.
  • Regarding the SABMiller plc (ADR) (OTCMKTS:SBMRY) - Anheuser Busch Inbev SA (ADR) (NYSE: BUD), the hedge fund manager could not share any comments, as he declared not knowing about the issue.
  • Finally, Ackman assured there is “lots of new stuff” at Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE: HLF), but nothing he could report, he said.

Disclosure: Javier Hasse holds no positions in any of the securities mentioned above.
