Sugar little changed

New York Sugar futures are trading steady Thursday morning. October Sugar is trading at 12.35, up 0.04. Market talk about currency values and energy prices has kept both buyers and sellers active. Brazil's Sugar cane crush during the second half of June was about 46.5 million tonnes versus 39.4 million in the first half of the month. Sugar production in the second half June was 2.51 million tonnes versus 1.97 million in the first half. Overall Brazil's sugar production for this season is 9.3 million tonnes, down about 10 % versus a year ago. Ethanol production is 8.6 billion liters up 1.6% from a year ago. Marker chatter about sellers near 12.53 and buyers near 12.03 is making the rounds.
