Friday's USDA Hog slaughter was 403,000 head versus a year ago at 319,000 head. Lean hog futures traded choppy ahead of the USDA Quarterly Hog and Pig report due out this afternoon. Prices firmed up a little near the end of the trading session. At last check August hogs were trading at 72.95, up 0.80 and October Hogs were trading at 63.35, up 0.62. December Hogs at last check were trading at 61.27, up 0.65.
