The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) was planning for web TV service this fall, hoping to capitalize on the increasing number of people moving away from cable service. JP Morgan's Rod Hall says that it is not the web TV that will be a game changer, but the potential for an AppleTV app store.

The web TV would launch with 25 channels at a price of $30-40 per month. ABC, CBS and Fox will all be included. Talks reportedly fell through with Comcast Corporation's (NASDAQ: CMCSA) NBC Universal.

Hall says that this news is a net positive for the company; however, the real potential is in AppleTV's app store and the A8X hardware. Hall believes that these "position Apple well for the console gaming market."
