Deutsche Bank has ranked its best 20 short ideas from its quantitative team, with SolarCity Corp (NASDAQ: SCTY) and Elizabeth Arden, Inc. (NASDAQ: RDEN) cracking the list. The list is heavy with energy and related industrials, which account for six of the 20. Deutsche implies an expected return of nearly -6 percent for the energy sector, with a -4 percent return on industrials.
The rankings are based on Deutsche Bank’s QCD Score, which it calls its flagship stock selection model for U.S. equities.
The top spot goes to Solazyme Inc (NASDAQ: SZYM) with a QCD score of -131.7 percent, compared with Miller Energy Resources Inc’s (NYSE: MILL) QCD of -129.8 percent.
