Private-equity firm Bain Capital Partners LLC has agreed to purchase Gymboree Corp (NASDAQ: GYMB) for $1.8 billion or $65.40 per share, representing a 24% premium to Gymboree's closing price on Friday. Shares of Gymboree surged about 31% following the news.Energy stocks moved up slightly driven by Chesapeake Corp (NYSE: CHK) after CNOOC Ltd (NYSE: CEO) announced its plans to invest more than $2 billion in CHK. The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI) rose about 0.11%, while the NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG) moved up about 0.71%. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index (OSX) inched up about 0.07%.Gold prices moved down slightly after a slight rebound in the US dollar. The gold contract for December delivery moved down about 0.07%.
