United Continental Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: UAL) shares rose 5.35% to touch a new 52-week high of $72.91. United Continental posted a quarterly net profit of $28 million, or $0.07 per share, versus a year-ago profit of $140 million, or $0.37 per share. Excluding non-recurring items, United Continental's adjusted earnings came in at $1.20 per share.
Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) shares gained 7.08% to touch a new 52-week high of $44.79 after the company reported upbeat fourth-quarter results.
