Engineering company KBR Inc (NYSE:KBR) has signed an alliance agreement with GeoLith SAS to provide advanced Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology, Li-Capt.

Under the terms of the agreement, KBR will serve as the exclusive global licensor of GeoLith’s Li-Capt technology.

The technology produces pure lithium concentrate and is adaptable to various brine compositions and extraction sources.

The technology, along with KBR’s battery material technologies, including PureLi, can help produce battery-grade lithium carbonate or lithium hydroxide monohydrate, important components for advanced batteries in electric vehicles, from lithium brine feedstock.

“We are excited to collaborate with GeoLith to pioneer advancements in accessing currently untapped sources of lithium to meet the world’s increasing lithium-ion battery demand," said KBR President, Sustainable Technology Solutions, Jay Ibrahim.

KBR employs approximately 34,000 people worldwide, with customers in more than 80 countries and operations in over 30 countries.

Price Action: KBR shares closed lower by 1.48% at $62.74 on Friday.
