Elon Musk‘s 75-year-old mother and model Maye Musk on Friday touted the safety of Tesla cars and shared videos of the driver whose Tesla was damaged after a portion of a construction crane fell on it in Fort Lauderdale.

What Happened: The driver, Mark Cerezin, told CBS News on Friday that he slammed the brake when he saw a “huge piece of blue metal” coming down while driving on the 3rd Avenue Bridge. The piece hit the front of his car, causing significant front-end damage. Cerenze stepped out of his vehicle following the incident.

“I couldn’t believe that I was still alive.” the individual told the media.

The incident injured two people and killed a 27-year-old construction worker who fell with the crane piece. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Florida Department of Transportation, and Fort Lauderdale police are investigating the incident, CBS reported.

Maye Musk Says: Maye Musk on Friday shared videos of Cerenze talking to the people gathered after the incident. Cerenze is seen explaining the incident and that the piece of metal “sheared” the front of his Tesla. He is also seen reiterating that he, himself, is alright.

“Teslas are the safest cars,” Maye Musk wrote on X while also recounting an incident shared with her by a photographer at a modeling job.

“I was at a huge modeling job when the photographer stood up with a microphone and told all the models and crew that Tesla had saved his life and those of his family. A truck had slammed into the back of his Tesla and landed on top of his car. He and his family exited without a scratch,” she wrote.

“Safety is Tesla’s top priority,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk replied to the post.
