Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) on Friday reiterated its commitment to the Swedish market in a mail to customers amid ongoing labor disputes. The electric vehicle (EV) maker emphasized its commitment to the Swedish market, highlighting the recent opening of its first V4 Supercharger in Sweden, with promises of more to come.

What Happened: In late October, IF Metall, a Swedish workers’ union representing Tesla mechanics, commenced a strike against the automaker for collective bargaining agreements, a foundational aspect of the Swedish labor market.

Collective agreements in Sweden encompass a range of employment conditions, including wages, form of employment, occupational pension, working hours, vacations and notice periods.

“Every day, our employees are encouraged to be creative and collaborate with other teams in order to offer an even higher customer experience. In return, they are rewarded with fair conditions and a good working environment. However, like many other companies, we have chosen not to enter into a collective agreement,” Tesla said in the mail by means of justifying its end.

The EV maker also reiterated the success of its Model Y in the region and its commitment to continuing its journey in Sweden.

“We want to assure you that we are deeply committed to continuing our journey in Sweden. We recently opened our first V4 Supercharger in Sweden and many more are on the way,” stated the e-mail.

Though Tesla does not manufacture in Sweden, its Model Y is the best-selling car model in Sweden so far this year. The EV maker established in the European country 10 years ago in 2013.

Why It Matters: The striking mechanics have now been joined by other workers. Dockworkers will not offload Tesla vehicles, unionized cleaning staff will cease maintaining showrooms, and electricians are set to abstain from servicing the company's charging stations.

Tesla did not immediately respond to Benzinga‘s request for comment.
