Detroit-based automaker Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F) said on Monday that it expects to add 15,000 Tesla superchargers to its charging network, a 25% jump from its previous estimate.

What Happened: Ford was initially looking to add 12,000 Tesla superchargers to its BlueOval Charge Network. However, it is now pegged at ‘15,000 confirmed and growing,’ the company said in an update. The pricing is yet to be announced for the superchargers which will be made available to customers starting next spring.

The company added that it would expand its BlueOval Charge Network in North America by 25% to over 106,000 chargers in total by adding access to Francis Energy, Blink and Red E charging providers across the U.S. and Canada. The three providers will add 10,000 new chargers to Ford’s network including over 550 DC fast chargers.

“With the addition of the Tesla Supercharger Network along with new fast chargers coming to Ford Model e dealerships in 2024, we are working hard to make range anxiety a thing of the past for Ford all-electric drivers," Ford senior director of global charging and energy services Bill Crider said in a statement.

Why It Matters: In May, Ford signed an agreement to allow its customers access to 12,000 Tesla superchargers. The automaker was the first of many to enter such an agreement with Tesla including General Motors and Rivian Automotive.
