Ex-basketball superstar and soon-to-be CNN host Charles Barkley has voiced his concerns about a potential 2024 presidential match-up between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

Barkley expressed his views on CNN’s “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace,” where he was asked about his political leanings and a possible run for governor in his home state of Alabama, The Hill reported.

Identifying as an independent, Barkley stated, “I don’t think either one of these parties are really concerned about people,” adding that he doesn’t side with one party on every issue.

When questioned about a possible Biden-Trump 2024 face-off, Barkley, who has spent the last 23 years as a sports broadcaster, showed little enthusiasm.

“I don’t feel good about a rematch,” he said. Barkley added that he doesn’t believe Trump represents a statesman and civility, and feels Biden is too old for office.

This comes at a time when Trump, despite facing numerous legal battles, is still seen as the GOP’s front-runner for the presidential primary. Biden, on the other hand, announced his plans to run for reelection in 2024 after weeks of speculation.
