Elon Musk did not vote in the 2020 U.S. Presidential election, contrary to his earlier claims that he voted for President Joe Biden, Business Insider reported.

Biographer Walter Isaacson revealed in his new book that the CEO of Tesla Inc. did not participate in the election. Musk had previously announced on his social media platform, X, that he voted for Biden.

Musk stated in an earlier Fox News interview with Tucker Carlson, “I didn’t vote for Donald Trump. I actually voted for Biden.”

But his recent admission contradicts this claim. Musk explained his decision to abstain was due to his residence in California, a state that was not contested in the election.

Isaacson’s book also revealed that Musk’s opinions of Biden began to sour after the President hosted an event celebrating electric vehicles in August 2021, which Musk was not invited to.

Despite his complicated relationship with both Biden and Trump, Musk expressed his desire for a “normal” candidate to vote for in 2024.

The Tesla CEO’s apparent shift towards Republican politics has been evident in recent years, with Musk placing his first Republican vote in the 2022 primaries.
