Forget humans, even the gigantic island crabs can't resist the thirst for Sprite. SpaceX co-founder Elon Musk recalled "funny" incidents where crabs would crack into the company's storage to quench their soda thirst.

What Happened: Reminiscing about the experience of SpaceX's Falcon launches from the Kwajalein Atoll, Musk recalled incidents of Coconut Crabs breaking into the company's soda can storage to get a taste of Sprite.

"When we were launching Falcon from Kwajalein, those crabs would break into our soda can storage & crack open the cans," Musk said.

Picturing crabs drinking soda and having a good time does sound quite funny, and Musk thinks the same. "They particularly seemed to like Sprite. Pretty funny seeing a giant crab drinking soda lol," he said.

Musk was posting on the eve of the 62nd Starlink satellite launch of the year. SpaceX launched 21 more Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit.

This year has been particularly good for SpaceX. Musk has now set a target of 10 Falcon flights every month for the rest of this year and 12 flights per month next year.

For context, SpaceX launched 61 missions in 2022.

Kwajalein Atoll: SpaceX has used the Kwajalein Atoll to launch satellites for a long time, going as far back as 2005. It is the 14th largest coral atoll in the world.

The atoll is a part of the Republic of Marshall Islands and is characterized by its stunning coral reefs, clear blue waters, and diverse marine life.

Apart from this, the Kwajalein Atoll also holds military significance due to its strategic location. SpaceX established the atoll as its primary launch location, starting with the Falcon 1 launch.
